Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Pallete Review

Hi guys! So as promised I will finally be  reviewing my new too faced chocolate bar semi sweet pallet. For those of you who don't know, this pallet is actually the newly released second version of the original chocolate bar pallet (which I absolutely loveeeeeee!) When I heard that too faced was launching a second chocolate bar pallet I knew I had to get my hands on it.

My reaction exactly.... Hahah I LOVE SPONGE BOB! Who still remember this episode? The first thing I thought of when I think of my reaction is this fishy little guy

For those of you who would like to see my original chocolate bar pallet review click right here!

If I can just point out really quickly, I really don't like the boxing for this pallet. The original one looks so much better, kind of like that golden ticket to the willy wonka factory. It's also a nice dark brown color. This one looks cheap, and it looks like no effort was put in it. The actual semi sweet chocolate bar pallet has a bit of a cheap light milk brown to it. Which doesn't make sense, because shouldn't the "semi sweet" one be more dark ...? Cause it's semi sweet..? The original pallet packaging would be like Ferorro Rochet, and the semi sweet one would be like... Nestle "Kit Kat"... NOT EVEN.. more like... ummm... "Crispy." And "Crispy" tastes sooo bad... I don't know anyone who actually likes Crispy. The original one also has a yummy chocolate aroma. Like really yummy chocolate, that doesn't intoxicate and suffocate you. Whenever I used that pallet I was always so tempted to eat it. But this one EXPLODES with a caramel scent. The smell literally punches you in the face. I get so nauseous after doing my makeup because the smell makes me sick. If the original chocolate bar pallet came in a perfume bottle, it would be like Marc Jacobs quality. The semi sweet pallet would be like bath and body works level. Okay enough with my chocolate rant!!!!

So after I purchased the pallet and actually tried it out, I couldn't help but feel a tad bit disappointed. I heard lots of mixed reviews on the pallet but I was still willing to give the pallet a shot. I feel like those people who actually owned the first chocolate bar pallet had the same reaction as I did. The first pallet applied like butter, and the color selection was absolutely to die for. It had a mix of neutrals and also nice vibrant colors as well. I loved the selection of burgundy colors, because we all know how in  burgundy is right now. ;)

This pallet however, really lacks in pigmentation. I was expecting the buttery application like the first one, but this one was really hard and chalky. There are some pigmented colors, but most colors were really chalky and hard to apply. For the swatches I'm about to post below, I actually had to do a couple swipes because they barely showed up all. I also had to put on flash because the colors barely showed up in regular lighting.
The colors in this pallet are mostly deep warm tone colors. A person with cool tone skin can still definitely use it, but it just sucks that most of the colors won't look so flattering on cool tone skin. For most looks I use with this pallet, I go for heavy smokier looks as I found that this pallet has mostly darker colors to work with.

Top Row
I'd have to say that most of the colors on the top row of this pallet are pigmented. They're also the darkest colors. I really like the black matte color (licorice). It's so perfect for a smoky eye, which I've been doing A LOT lately because of this pallet. The hot fudge color is also nice and pigmented, which is kind of like a taupey brown. The coconut creme color was a huge disappointment. It literally applies like powder... not much color pay off or color longevity. For highlighting, I would say the butter pecan color would be a better choice.

Middle Row
So this row has the most colors, and also holds the famous "blue berry swirl" color. I have to say though that I was really disappointed with the color because once again, it was so hard and chalky. I thought because it was shimmery it would apply easily, but not so much! As you can tell from the swatch, it looks really washed out and not so vibrant. Another color I'm not so much of a fan of is pink sugar. I thought it would have a very creamy texture... but it actually goes on chunky and solid! It looks cheap, and it looks like I have eye boogers! I don't like how it looks like I have chunks of sparkles on my eyes. But one color I absolutely adore from this row is the color "peanut butter." It looks a lot like the color "salted caramel" from the original pallet, and applies just like it too. I usually use this color as my blending color in my crease. It's so perfect and so smooth. "Cocoa Chilli" is a dark brown color with flecks of gold in it. It's matte but with sparkles (haha), it applies smoothly and nicely and so does "Frosting". I'm not so crazy over "Puddin" though, cause it's one of the colors that applies chalky, and have bad pigmentation.

 Bottom Row

So this row is obviously less dark, and more pinky/golden.This row is relatively more pigmented because it's all shimmery, with the exception of "Mousse". "Mousse" is a bit of a washed out yellow tone brown. And because it is matte, the pigmentation of it is really lacking (Once again -_-) I really like most of the colors on this row. And butter pecan is a nice highlight color for the brow bone. It also contains more product then the other pans just like coconut creme. I feel like I'll be using the bottom row more often during the spring/summer.

So What Are My Thoughts On This Pallet?
I'm not going to lie, I was immensely disappointed with this pallet. You don't even understand how much of a let down it was to me. As soon as I heard of it's release I was like jumping in joy and jittering with excitement. I raved about it with my friends and family like my life depended on it. But when I finally got the pallet.. sigh... you don't even understand. I literally felt like a disappointed mom. I had the hugest hopes and then it just kicked me in the face. It felt like... I just found out my child cheated on a test, or got caught smoking crack or something. Hahah I couldn't think of a good example. I was so upset I ranted at my friends and my brother and sulked by myself the entire day. I tried so hard to love the pallet and I played with it for hours late at night to create a good look. Not to mention how many times I had to remove my eye make up, when I have eczema. IT WAS PAINFUL. It was SO PAINFUL. But i bit the bullet because I still had hopes for it. After a good month or so of using it, my disappointment gradually died down. Sure I wasn't in love with it, but I just learned to accept it. I was originally planing on returning the pallet and getting my full $66 refund, which totally goes against my  morals because I NEVER return things at Sephora, even if I hate the product. Now I found a couple ways to use the pallet to suit me. Below are some looks I created with the pallet.

Make Up Done With Sephora + Pantone

Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette

See the difference between the quality of the make up looks. I LOVE my sephora+pantone pallet to death by the way. It's sooo pigmented and it applies like butter. My naked pallet can't even compare to my sephora pallet. I'll be reviewing this pallet later, but be sure to pick up this pallet quick because it's ALWAYS sold out.

Just in case for those of you wondering, I'm wearing my g&g puffy 3 tone pink circle lenses which I purchased from lensvillage! They're my favorite pair to wear everyday! (I'll also be reviewing these lenses... in the future... don't really know when... LOL...so no promises there...)

Anyway, I hope you all found this review super helpful! If you'd like to purchase it they sell it at Sephora for $66 with tax. If you're willing to fork out that much money, I would advise you purchase the original chocolate bar pallet instead.

Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe and comment! It would mean so much to me guys~! Well~ until next time! I'm out.. gotta start working on my homework now...

SOO CUTE <333 I love dogs
